Stream your webcam or desktop directly into VR
Whether you want to stream a webcam or desktop feed into VR, you can do so easily within Multiverse.
Here is a simple step-by-step guide to getting your stream into VR.
NOTE: Streaming your webcam or desktop is currently available to ENTERPRISE plan members only.
1) Click the Stream icon
After signing into your Multiverse account, find the stream icon (second from left) located at the top right of the website. Clicking this will take you to your very own webcam and desktop streaming page.
2) Accept permission requests
It's important that you grant permission for the use of your microphone & camera so that we can stream your video and audio.
Later you may need to grant access to screen sharing too.
3) A preview will appear
Once permission has been granted the page will load and display your feed mirrored on screen.
This may take a couple of seconds, so be patient.
4) "Start" to commence your stream
Once you click start (bottom right), your feed will commence streaming up to Multiverse.
Before you go into VR to access your stream, let's just make sure it's all working correctly:
5) Preview your webcam stream
After clicking start, and below your first preview, a second preview will appear. This preview is your feed sent from your device to our servers and back to your screen.
If you are seeing this, then your feed is successfully being streamed from your device to our servers and back again.
6) Preview your desktop stream
By clicking the "Screen" share button (third from left) you will be able to switch to a stream of your desktop / laptop screen instead of your webcam. This is a great way to stream a presentation into VR.
Note: You may have to "allow" access to your screen at this point.
Congratulations! You are now streaming your
webcam or desktop directly into VR.
Known Issues and how to resolve them:
Generally, most issues relate to a combination of your device's OS & the web browser you are using. The first recommended resolution would be to try another browser; chrome, safari, edge, firefox, etc.
Another common issue results from not allowing your browser to provide the right permissions to Multiverse. Please check that your Multiverse Account Streaming page has been given the right permissions to stream your webcam / desktop.

As of May 18th 2021, there is a known bug that appeared in the latest version of Chrome. When clicking "Start" nothing happens. This is related to a websocket not connecting. We are working on a fix.

This is because you are in a part of Multiverse that does not allow for you to bring content into the app. Different domains within Multiverse allow for different experiences for different users. So, for example, some domains only allow domain "hosts" to bring content into that location, while other domains do not allow any content brought in, and finally some domains allow for everyone to bring content into the domain.

While there is currently no limit to the number of streams participants can bring into a room, to ensure a smooth, comfortable experience we highly recommend that there are no more than 2 streams in any room. This suggested limit covers combinations of video streams and live streams.
We recommend this two stream limit for a couple of reasons:
Not everyone in a room will be on a fantastic internet connection, and too many feeds will result in a poor quality experience for some users.
Most of the popular VR devices are built on mobile phone chipsets. While these processors are extremely powerful, there is a lot going on inside Multiverse, so being kind to your processor is generally good practice and will ensure high frame-rate. High frame-rate results in a great experience and generally brings about good karma. While a low frame-rate can cause nausea, so is highly discouraged.

There are two possible reasons for this:
Rooms reset to their default state after a small period of inactivity, so if you leave a room and come back to it, all changes may have been reset.
There are sometimes multiple shards of a room active. In this case you'll want to ensure you go back to the shard you were previously in. This can be done by "joining" a friend or colleague you were previously with who is still in the original shard.
Note: A shard is a duplicate version of a room. Shards appear after a room is full, and new users spawn and appear in a new shard of the original room. Shards always spawn with default settings and default content. Different rooms have different user limits per shard, but nearly all shards have soft buffers that allow for people to join a specific person if desired.

This is currently not supported, but it is on our (very long) list of desired features to explore at a later point in time.

This feature is still in development at the moment. Please bear with us while we conjure up some code wizardry to enable this feature.

To ensure a good experience inside Multiverse we currently limit desktop streaming to HD quality. This is something we hope to increase for certain devices over time, but for now this limit is enforced across all devices.
Remember that the resolution of the most common VR devices are approximately 1832 × 1920 - meaning that you would rarely be able to view more detail than an HD stream anyways. However you will notice a diminished visual quality if you scale your feed and step so close to the feed that you only see a small section of your feed. This is obviously a bit silly and not a common use-case, and a better solution would be to zoom in on your desktop / laptop screen before the stream leaves your computer.
